Love Yourself & The Rest Will Follow…

By Angela Simmons
I can’t express how important it is to love yourself. It’s something I have learned over these last two years really well. I would like to give you some tips on how to love yourself. I’ll share with you things you should do to love yourself on a daily basis. You have to be your own believer- that’s number one. There shouldn’t be a day that passes when you don’t praise yourself in some shape or form.

Find something that you love about yourself and make it known to yourself. It’s almost like finding something you’re good at and sticking with it. If you know you’re super athletic, do something that will help boost your confidence in that field. You MUST realize that self-love has to come from you. If we wait around all day looking for love from a man or even a friend , you may not receive the love you need. The person who can give you the most love is YOU. It’s like a dead end always waiting on someone to do something for you. So take action NOW in loving yourself. Ask yourself what it is that you need and fulfill those needs.

Your days are in your hands. No one else should dictate how you can love yourself.

“Love yourself first and everything falls into line.”

- Lucille Ball

Now’s the right time to fall in love with yourself. Look in the mirror and fall in love with that person. Accept the flaws and love the fact that your imperfect. No one is perfect in this world and no one will ever be. It’s ok to not be perfect. It’s how life is cut out to be. We could drive ourselves crazy trying to make everything picture perfect. Stop criticizing yourself for every little detail. It’s a waste of time and energy to constantly attack yourself. There’s enough people in the world that do that. Focus in on the better things in life. Build up a wall of positivity.

People always see in you what you see in yourself. So focus in on the good. We also must make sure that every day we learn to forgive ourselves for whatever it is we may have done wrong. Since we aren’t perfect we are going to make mistakes. There have been plenty of times when I’ve felt I’ve made huge mistakes. And you know what ? I got over it. I forgave myself. Don’t hold grudges. While forgiving yourself , make sure that you’re being honest with yourself too. Don’t bury emotion. Acknowledge it. Deal with it. Drop it. Find a way to let it GO. Take time to meditate. Whatever you do , don’t keep it locked up inside of you. When we hold these emotions in, they eventually materialize on the physical level.

You never want your emotions to cause that much trauma. So deal with it and move on. Another really big helper is becoming more spiritually connected with yourself. Being one with yourself. Knowing your meaning on this earth. Being loving, kind and compassionate. Treating others how you want to be treated. The idea of loving your neighbor like they are your family. It all ties back to love. A great way to reinforce all of the above is to make positive daily affirmations and follow them. Every day you should write something down that you should live by for that day. An example would be as simple as “Today I will compliment 5 people I see.” That on its own will make you feel good. Just to see other people smile. Knowing you’ve made someone else’s day. Last but not least is to take care of your body. Your body is your temple and root of all health. In order to get through your daily tasks you must be healthy. So work out, take yoga, bike ride, find something you like to do. Stay on top of you.

In closing I’d like to say that a lot of the time we miss the real beauty in life by speeding. So I’m here to tell everyone to slow down and see the real beauty in life. The world has so much beauty in it. Find time to see the beauty in the middle of chaos, because it’s there. It all goes back to loving yourself. When people get you down and hurt you, look at yourself and realize your worth. But in order to do that, we must first slow down. Every day is a new chance to start over. It’s never too late to love yourself how you should be loved. So starting today find what it is you love about yourself and make it count.
