Burnout: Jennifer Lopez, Teairra Mari And Ameriie

Jennifer Lopez got her big break when she was selected to star in the movie "Selena" which saw her portraying the life of the Latina singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez, that movie helped launched her career in the music industry as she had a good voice and looked beautiful but what actually draw people in was what she represented. She represented authenticity, tenacity and hard work in her professional and personal life. Her work ethic is something all her peers talk about and her musical offerings were fun and were relatable but over the past ten years she has yet to deliver the same quality of music as she used to.

Her last good offering was "Rebirth" and since then she has released some of her weakest material  which all failed to showcase any vocal growth nor maturity. They simply find desperately trying to stay current with following the latest trends and using her image as the main attraction, mainly her ass becoming viewed more as sexual object. Her last album "A.K.A" is nothing more than a hodgepodge of rip-offs of other musicians’ styles and at worst, just horribly bland and her vocals lack any sort of life in them.

She needs to retire as she has nothing more to offer the music industry or find some inspiration to do something original and out of the box that finds her once again creating great music and set trends not follow them because honestly there comes a time in your professional career regardless of industry, music, film, medicine, business, law etc. that you have to use your platform to be taken seriously and make impactful moves related to your profession.

Teairra Mari rose to fame in 2005 with her breakout Roc-A-Fella hit “Make Her Feel Good” around the same time labelmate Rihanna was getting her start. The then she released her second single “No Daddy” which was a terrible move to make as the song failed to have a huge impact on the charts as it promoted bad image with lyrics such as "I ain't have no daddy around when I was growing up/That's why I'm wild and I don't give a (audible gasp)..." and the music video didn`t help as it saw punching her fictional father in the face.

Mari picked herself up and moved forward with the era and released her debut album "Roc-A-Fella Records Presents Teairra Mari" which was a solid offering, charting at 5 on the Billboard charts but things quickly took a turn for the worse for the Detroit native as she was subsequently dropped from Def Jam : "It had a lot to do with management, my mother and me. My ego got kinda big.."

Rihanna on the other hand was enjoying international success with her single "Pon de Replay" which charted mostly in the top five all over the world and achieved true stardom as she has managed to create a strong lane for herself and great music that has topped charts all over the world.

Mari dropped off the radar for a couple of years and returned sometime in 2007 but since then she has been signed to countless record labels and things always seemed to not work out. In 2014 she decided throw her career into the trash when she to join the cast of  "Love And Hip-hop: Hollywood" to gain relevancy not through her music but acting a hot mess over Brandy`s little brother Ray J.

I’d usually bash failure-to-launch artist who turn to reality TV as it worked well for Tamar Braxton and K.Michelle who have released the top successful R&B albums, I don`t see it working for Teairra because her actions on the show turn off potential fans and overshadows her music as the girl is extremely talented but this ain`t doing anything for her nor do I see it for her anymore.

After releasing her debut album "All I Have" in 2002 which charted at number 3 on the  Billboard chart, the future looked incredibly bright for Ameriie. She had a very different look, different voice and had a very warm and bubbly personality. Three years later she released her second album titled "Touch" which featured her biggest single to date “One Thing”, peaking at 8 Billboard Hot 100 and was well received internationally. And the album itself was a stunning piece of work and her strongest offering so far, no wonder it topped the R&B charts and reached gold status.

In 2007 she parted ways with her label, Columbia Records after the limited release of her third album "Because I Love It", she went on to sign to Def Jam and release her fourth album "In Love And War"which failed to match the success of her previous albums mainly due to poor single choices which led to a lack of radio support. Which is no wonder why her album peaked at 46, it was a good offering but singles like "Heard 'Em All" were never gonna blow up the radio and the sound sounded too forced on her.

It`s almost 6 years now since she dropped an album and the music scene is getting smaller and smaller especially for female singers, Ameriie needs to make her return sooner or people will forget about her, which would be a shame as is a dope artist that deserves nothing more success as she is truly committed to her craft but has dealt with situations through labels that have limited her from being bigger than she is but I hope one day she does achieve alot of success and make great music again.
