My mentor, music teacher, life coach, music therapist as well as my godmother/auntie; I truly hope you know how much of an impact that your music has had on my life but not only has your music saved my life and made a STRONG impact on me. You as a person along with your story have really motivated me and your spirit just made me love you even more as a person.
I always knew Missy Elliott the artist, musical genius, producer, songwriter, CEO, business woman, etc. but I NEVER knew Missy Elliott the person, the woman behind the music. One day, I was on twitter talking to my big brother Zion about some of my favorite songs then next thing I knew, I get a notification letting me know I got a tweet but I did not think anything of it at the time since Zion and I were already having a nice discussion as we always do lol. I then click on the notification and expecting for the tweet to be from Zion but it wasn’t from him. The tweet came from a kind lady letting me know she has not heard that song in years but assures me that the song I chose as one of my favorite songs is also hers as well.
I NEARLY died once I saw that I got a tweet from you and I was like, “THE Missy Elliott is tweeting me?! THIS CAN NOT BE REAL!” and as time went on, I have really gotten to know you and connect with you outside of your music. I never thought in a million years that I would be talking to you especially on Twitter, because most people on there are all about self-promotion but you use it to truly connect with your fans. I kept saying to myself that this can NOT be real and just when I was beginning to accept the fact that I was interacting with you on Twitter, building an AMAZING relationship/connection with you (fan/supporter-artist) and that you knew of my existence, I get a phone call on Christmas Day of 2012 and needless to say, I was exhausted that night and getting ready for bed. I answer the phone and it’s a woman on the phone saying, “Hi, Albert… how you doing? How’s it going? What it do, boo?” and I’m like “Who is this?” then before you could say who you were, I recognized the voice and hollered. I truly and genuinely appreciate that you took sometime to do that.
I used to think that every artist, superstar, celebrity, etc. was so Hollywood but you were/are never like that. “Genuine” is not even the right word to describe you and I am literally LOST for words at the moment lol. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MISSY!!!!! I LOVE YOU & WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, SUPPORT YOU ALONG WITH HAVING YOUR BACK!!! You have done SO MUCH for me with your gift alone and I can’t even tell you how much I love/admire you! *hugs*
LOVE ALWAYS,
